If your goal is concentrated on saving money, not the general experience, I would like to suggest the 60 6 Resort, found 2 blocks from the beach, and 3 miles from the top of the range shops of Bal Harbour and the Lincoln Road pedestrian mall.
It has got a nice fitness center and this is found in a reasonably quiet part of the beach. I wouldn't stay at the Now, if you happen to be looking for overall experience, I might go with the Sea View Bal Harbor Hotel found on Collins. It's a pretty hotel, art deco, 1920s style, and really quiet and romantic. The hotel stands in a quiet neighborhood of condo towers one block from Bal Harbor Shops, and about 7 miles of the convention center, the Jackie Gleason Theater and South Beach. Miami Global airfield is about 18-20 miles away. The lobby is beautiful! It has green marble flooring, trimmed in dark wood and has a really beautiful crystal candelabrum. The hotel offers business services, wireless Net access and meeting space. And you absolutely need to try the heated pool!
